At Hillmead Primary School we are committed to providing all our children with the opportunity to discover and enhance their physical talents as well as giving them the chance to have experiences that they would not normally have during their daily curriculum teaching. We believe that an engaging sports curriculum helps children to develop confidence and a sense of achievement as well as building skills that will help them to tackle other challenges in life.
We have worked hard to improve our sports provision, upskill staff in order to improve our long-term PE teaching and provide extra-curricular sporting opportunities for children across the school. Hillmead's Sports Premium funding will ensure that children are physically active and excited about sport. As well as increasing fitness we hope that children will appreciate team work and a healthy lifestyle. This funding provides the foundations which will allow children to develop a sporting habit for life!
As part of the Olympic legacy, the government have given all Primary school a grant to be spent solely on enhancing sports provision for pupils in the school. The decision about where to allocate the money has been left to individual schools. However, schools remain accountable for this spending and schools have a duty to report this. At Hillmead Primary School, our sports grant for 2016-17 was £8865. The money will be used so that all children benefit regardless of their sporting ability.
